Save Greenville County's Vanishing Rural Communities!
Tell Greenville County Council to act now to control sprawl from new suburban-style residential subdivisions, consistent with the County's 2020 Comprehensive Plan
Greenville County's unzoned areas contain the County's most important agricultural and environmental resources, along with a variety of unique rural communities. However, these places are threatened by the County's current system of subdivision review. Therefore, we must have sensible limits on the construction of new residential subdivisions in the unzoned areas of the county.
Greenville County just made a major investment of taxpayer money and staff time in the creation of a Comprehensive Plan, and County Council unanimously approved the content of that Plan. The Plan details the type of residential development that is appropriate in each part of the County, including its unzoned areas. County Council cannot squander this major investment of time and money in the Plan by now failing to act on implementing it.
Both legally and practically, there is a significant difference between imposing a comprehensive zoning system on our rural communities and simply specifying a minimum lot size for developers in those communities. If you are in favor of establishing rural subdivision controls that are consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, sign this petition NOW.
